How to Make Homemade Lavender Lemonade

As many of you know I love to make unique non-alcoholic drinks when we have friends over for dinner. This recipe walks you through how to make a lavender simple syrup. You can purchase culinary lavender to use in the recipe below at many grocery stores or in our area, from Pelindaba Lavender which is a local farm on San Juan Island. This recipe makes 8-12 servings.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 4 teaspoons of culinary lavender
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • 7 cups of water

Step One: To make the simple syrup put the sugar, 2 cups of water, and culinary lavender in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil for ~10 minutes. Let cool. Remove the lavender by using a small sieve.

Step Two: Put 2 cups of fresh lemon juice and 7 cups of water in a large pitcher and stir. Add 2 1/2 cups of the cooled simple syrup into the pitcher and mix well.

Step Three: Put in the fridge and let it sit overnight – this will result in a much stronger lemonade.

Step Four: Serve over ice or chilled. Enjoy!

P.S. This lavender simple syrup is also excellent in making lavender mint fauxjitos (a mint mojito sans alcohol)! I’ll post that recipe soon!

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
