How to make Meatball Marinara with Angel Hair Pasta

This recipe falls into the comfort food category and it got rave reviews after I served it to some friends who came over for dinner a few months ago. This recipe isn’t anything new or exciting but it sure does hit the spot after a day full of work & parenting highs and lows. Serves 6.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 lb. Italian sausage (mild, sweet, or hot)
  • Two jars of marinara, 48 oz. total
  • 1 lb. of angel hair pasta
  • Shaved or grated parmesan
  • Fresh basil (optional)
  • Pine nuts (optional)

Step One: Turn your oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×13 pan and set aside.

Step Two: While the oven is pre-heating put the egg, breadcrumbs, and Italian sausage in a bowl and mix well.

Step Three: Taking ~ 1 1/2 tablespoons at a time, roll the meat into meatballs and place them into your greased 9×13 pan. You should have ~ 30 meatballs when you are done.

Step Four: Cook the meatballs in the oven for 30 minutes. They should register at 170 degrees when you take them out, which is the proper cook temp for pork.

Step Five: Empty the marinara into a pot on the stovetop and put on low heat. Add the cooked meatballs to the marinara and let simmer until you are ready to serve your meal.

Step Six: While your meatballs and marinara are simmering, boil a large pot of water and cook your angel hair pasta according to the directions on the box.

Step Seven: Take a portion of the angel hair, a big scoop of marinara, and 3-5 meatballs per bowl. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, fresh torn basil, and pine nuts.

Enjoy!
