Grateful Heart Site Moving to Fantail Farm

To my dearest Grateful Heart Home & Garden Email Subscribers,

As many of you know, I have been a federal employee for almost 20 years working as a marine mammal biologist for NOAA. With the current Administration making cuts to the Federal workforce my family and I have been exploring ideas and new opportunities if my employment were to be impacted.

In February we applied for an entrepreneurial visa to move to New Zealand. Fast forward 8 months and one incredible trip to New Zealand later and we learned our application was not approved. After considering other locations in the United States, we decided as a family to stay where we are living now & I am continuing my employment with NOAA for the meantime.

I recently launched a new business, Fantail Farm here on Bainbridge Island. Phase One is offering our gourmet cheesecakes (using my Mom’s recipes so she continues to inspire all that I do) to the local community and building our brand and name over time. I will slowly move my Grateful Heart Home & Garden content over to thefantailfarm.com with the goal of being more strategic on building a business that may bring some income in for my family. Don’t worry – this site is NOT being deleted and it will continue to be maintained until the transfer is complete. You will notice some fun new content on my new website like conversation starters, tablescapes, and charcuterie boards.

Phase Two will include expanding our offerings for in person events, workshops, and classes if we can get the local permissions in place to do so. This may also include a cookbook with all of my recipes in one centralized place, downloadable content for a price, etc.

So what this means is that I will no longer add new content to this site but I would absolutely LOVE if you would be willing to email subscribe to my new website at thefantailfarm.com and follow me on Facebook & Instagram (@thefantailfarm). Social media will only be used for business purposes but you are welcome to contact me at any time at Kristin@thefantailfarm.com

Thank you for following me on this journey & continuing to follow along on my new website. It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years since I started this website and that my beloved Mom, Kelly passed away. It is with a grateful heart that I continue forward.

With love,

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
