How to make Blackberry Sage Sparking Lemonade
A few months ago I noticed a popular coffee chain advertising blackberry sage drinks so I thought it would be fun to try to make this at home. Introducing my Blackberry Sage Sparkling Lemonade! This is a very refreshing summer drink and one we enjoy in the spring as well. Makes ~ 8+ servings depending on how much blackberry sage simple syrup you use to sweeten your drink.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
- 10 fresh sage leaves
- Lemonade – homemade or store bought – 1/2 cup per serving
- Sparkling water – 1/2 cup per serving
Step One: To make your simple syrup put the sugar, water, blackberries and sage in a small saucepan and bring to a boil to dissolve all of the sugar. Turn down the heat and let simmer for ~10 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool.
Step Two: Once the simple syrup is cooled, remove the sage leaves and using an immersion blender, blend the simple syrup mixture until smooth.
Step Three: Add ice to your glass, pour in 1/2 cup of lemonade and 1/2 cup of sparkling water. Add the blackberry sage simple syrup. I normally use 2 tablespoons per serving but add more or less to taste.
Enjoy!
