Celebrating my Mom

Receiving Birthday Love from Above

Today is my birthday – the day my Mom held me in her arms for the first time and welcomed me into this experience. Today is our day and it always will be. Throughout my life I have heard my Mom say countless times, “I am ageless.” How true this simple statement is – we are ageless because we are spiritual. Matter says we have a beginning and an end and let’s count, but Spirit says we are eternal and our time and expression is infinite.

The note you see above (and below on my vanity) was written in 2006 – I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter and my parents were thrilled to have their first grandchild on the way. This note sits on my vanity and I read it every morning when I am getting ready for the day- it’s a nice reminder that I am precious, loved, and cherished. Last year on my birthday I missed my Mom’s call, we were exploring a beautiful botanical garden and hiking in the rain. Her voicemail from that day is the only one on my phone now, at the very end she says “Wishing you a joyous, happy happy day.” Hearing her voice and listening to her message makes me cry – my love for her is never ending.

Today I am not celebrating my age but I am celebrating a life filled with sincerity, purpose, compassion, and I am giving gratitude for home, family, friends, and spiritual growth. Today I am going to have a joyous, happy happy day and I wish you the very same.

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
