How I Am Giving Gratitude for Home
In 2025 I will be focusing on giving gratitude to fill my consciousness full of goodness! In this post I’ll share with all of you how I am giving gratitude for home and share some reflective questions to get you thinking about the space you occupy.
Home is a place where I feel safe and secure, it is my refuge from an uncertain and ever-changing world, it is where I connect with my family and create new memories with them. It is where my creativity can be expressed through interior design, where I grow my flowers/fruit/vegetables, it is where I make meals that nourish my family and it is a place where I can rest and restore my spirit.
Home is my foundation to launch into the world to do the work I am meant to do. How can I not be grateful for this space?! I am grateful that I have been able to make this space my own – we did a complete renovation (check out my home transformation page) when we moved into the house right before the pandemic in January 2020. Yes, there are things I would love to change and upgrade but I am so incredibly grateful for this space.
How do I express my gratitude for home? It’s through the daily loving care I give to this space and saying thank you to God for blessing me with this home. I am a 100% total neat freak so the house gets a deep clean 1x per week and daily tidying. I also love to refresh the space throughout the seasons with simple changes – this might mean rearranging the furniture, switching rugs and artwork between the rooms, putting on different throw pillow covers, or putting out seasonal decor. It could be changing the purpose of a room – check out my guest room that transformed into my office. The best part is that this transformation typically costs me $0 and a bit of my time but it delivers a BIG change (which I love)!
I need a cozy space in the house – add some soft lighting, a comfortable place to read/write/rest, light some candles and a blanket and you’ll be recharged in no time!

Sometimes really simple things that are low cost can add a lot of coziness & comfort to your home. I’d buy ALL of the candles at IKEA if I could. Other must haves for our home are… fresh flowers, plants everywhere, an herb garden in the kitchen, cozy blankets, family photos, and handwritten notes from family & friends. Check out this cool project I made when we moved in – all you need is a cork board, free color samples from the hardware store and some pins. Have friends and family sign a square when they come over. Before you know it you’ll have messages from those you love most to lift your spirits every day.

I also express gratitude for home by inviting others over to share the space with my family and I. While it does take time and effort to host it is one of my favorite things to do on the weekends. Catching up with friends and family in a restaurant just isn’t as intimate as over a home cooked meal – I have SO many recipes to share which can be found on my Favorite Recipes page.
If you’d like to deepen your practice of gratitude for home ponder the below questions when you have the time and quiet space to do so.
- What does home represent to you?
- How does your home make you feel?
- If any negative emotions come up for this question think about what needs to change so your home is a place of comfort, safety, belonging, and joy.
- What is your favorite thing about your home?
- Is there anything you would change about your home? And if so, can you take steps to make that change?
- List 5 things that you are grateful for when it comes to your home.
- Can your home bless others in some way?
- For example, are there things in your home that you are no longer using that could help someone else? Buy Nothing groups are very popular or make a donation to a local non-profit group that could share your items with others.
Here’s to a year full of gratitude! I am a grateful heart.
