This was one of the first spaces we settled into and the layout of the furniture is the same as our previous house so it instantly felt like home. We used the same floors throughout the house, Bruce Hydropel Hickory in 5″ wide planks purchased from Home Depot.

The walls were painted Platinum by Behr and the molding around the windows and floor trim was painted with Behr interior/exterior urethane alkyd semi-glass enamel in white (No.3900-N). We put in a new glass pendant over the breakfast table from Wayfair.

The chairs are from Crate and Barrel and were custom upholstered – turquoise is my favorite and they add a bright pop of color to the space since the sofa, rug, and general decor is neutral. I love the natural light in this space on a sunny day and that all you can see from the windows are lots and lots of trees.

This is a space that connects to the back deck and also has a half bathroom. This is also where we enjoy family movie nights and having long conversations with family and friends.

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
