Stairs Transformation

As part of our home renovation and transformation we put in all new flooring. After taking the original carpet off of the stairs the real job was pulling out hundreds of staples and all of the tacking materials. Once the carpet, staples, and wood tacking strips were removed we did a deep clean with a ShopVac to pick up all of the dust and debris from years of build up.

We installed Anderson Tuftex Stroll in Iced Marble. This is a Stainmaster PetProduct and holds up to lots of foot traffic with little wear and tear – thankfully this has held true since it was installed over a year ago and still looks brand new. We ended up having quite a bit of carpet material leftover and decided to paint the stairs going down into the garage the same gray as the kitchen cabinets, Behr (color: dark pewter) interior/exterior urethane alkyd semi-glass enamel and cut the carpet into strips to line the individual stairs. To prep the stairs we used a ShopVac and then painted the stairs using small roller brushes. Once the paint was dry I used a heavy duty staple gun to secure the carpet to the stairs.

This carpet design adds some personality going upstairs and adds a nice cushion to the stairs. I’m happy with the choice we made on this carpet design & brand- it ties in perfectly with our deep blue/gray, white, and light gray color theme throughout the house.

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
