Primary Bedroom Transformation
We continued the house renovation upstairs as well using the same hardwood floors as downstairs, Bruce Hydropel in Natural Hickory. It is 100% wood construction and waterproof for up to 36 hours – this is particularly important in the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room. We painted the walls Platinum by Behr and all of the floor, window, and door trim was painted white for a fresh & clean look. I put two large vintage mirrors over our bed instead of a large headboard – this captures the light from the large window and really brightens up the space.
The primary bathroom also got new floors, paint, a new toilet, and a new light fixture over the double sinks. I trimmed the fireplace stickers (see my Fireplace Transformation post for more information) into long thin pieces and placed them over the hunter green tub tile detail to give the tub a more modern look. The bathroom vanity was painted in the same color as the kitchen cabinets – my daughter and I were able to accomplish this in one afternoon. There is always a bouquet of fresh flowers on the countertop and a very special piece of artwork that my Mom & I created together.
This space is peaceful, comforting, and bright – with each transformation the house is starting to feel more like home.
