Friday Flowers 3.26.2021
This week my Friday Flowers come to you from one of my favorite places, our family lake house. There is a gorgeous view of the lake, a wide variety of birds to enjoy, and a nice walking path for morning and afternoon strolls. The sunroom over looks the lake and is sheltered by a very large oak tree that is stunning no matter what season it is. This sunroom has been host to many game nights, delicious meals, cherished discussions, and it is a place that makes you feel at peace. It’s also where my Mom moved into the next experience.
It is my first time back to the family lake house since my Mom passed and I’ll admit, it’s been very emotional for me. There is nothing more comforting to me than doing something that makes me feel close to my Mom and so here I am, making bouquets on Friday afternoon using my Mom’s garden shears and her vases and staged in the sunroom for photos. One of these bouquets is for my grandmother and the other for a very close family friend – both as thank you’s for hosting dinner.
This week I chose to use alstroemeria – it’s a flower I used in my wedding bouquets and it is a staple in my arrangements. Did you know the alstroemeria symbolizes love, strength, and devotion? It’s the perfect flower to use this week because it defines my relationship with my Mom. Her love gives me the strength to move forward with grace and I am her devoted daughter – devoted to celebrating her and her spiritual identity as God’s perfect idea – an idea that is continuing to radiate love and is lighting my path.

I enjoyed reading your description “view of the lake, a wide variety of birds to enjoy, and a nice walking path for morning and afternoon strolls. The sunroom over looks the lake and is sheltered by a very large oak tree that is stunning no matter what season it is.”. I would love to see photos of what you describe.
I am sorry for the loss of your Mom. Your writings must be a comfort to you in processing your grief.
