Colors of Kindness Crayons

This past week I came across a unique happy box of crayons – Crayola Colors of Kindness crayons. I picked up the box instantly falling in love with the colors and the concept behind this simple box of crayons. The box says, “These 24 Crayola crayons are specially labeled with warm words to inspire smiles and happy thoughts!” Yes please!

One of my Mom’s favorite things was a brand new box of crayons – such a small simple thing that would evoke memories of childhood and inspire joy in her heart. As I was reading through the names of the crayons I felt a wonderful wave of peace and calmness come over me. After the news headlines that week, a mass shooting at an elementary school, somehow a box of crayons was making me feel like everything was going to be okay in the world. Huh?! As I have pondered this in the days to follow here is what I realized…

These crayons represent who we are – we are kind to the core, we breathe deep, we crave a warm hug, we spring into action and rise above the doom and gloom – we spread our wings, we keep moving forward and we are always brave, we connect heart to heart, and we have peace of mind. We are a rainbow of beautiful colors with a gorgeous range of ideas and beliefs. All of these colors complement and highlight each other. What a beautiful lesson to be taught from a simple box of crayons.
