Planting Thanksgiving Tulips in 2022

Every November I plant tulip bulbs in honor of my Mom. My Dad, brothers, and I did this just a few days after she passed away (check out my Living Lessons: Tulips post) and now it’s one of my favorite annual traditions. This year I took this tradition to a whole new level and planted 650 bulbs in my garden and surrounding our home! Planting each one brought me so much joy and I absolutely cannot wait to share photos with all of you in Spring 2023!

Here is what I planted in the garden and around our property this year;

  • 135 Double Early Tulip Mix
  • 8 Double Late Crispa Mix
  • 15 Darwin Hybrid Tulips in Mystic Van Ejik
  • 82 Mixed Tulips
  • 60 Light pink Purissima Tulips
  • 60 Large Flowering Crocus Mixed
  • 60 Little Beauty Botanical Tulips
  • 46 Fringed Mix Tulips
  • 70 Dark pink Van Ejik Tulips
  • 70 White Allium Neopolitanum
  • 45 Giant Allium Purple Sensation Mix

Tulips represent “perfect and deep love” and are given when you have a deep and unconditional love for someone. How wonderful it will be to have our home surrounded by this perfect and deep love when the tulips bloom in Spring 2023!

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
