How to Make Casey’s Homemade Turkey Chili Recipe
Learn how to make my favorite turkey chili recipe to share with your family & friends! My husband, Casey makes the most delicious chili during the fall months. Amongst his friends he is known for this recipe so it’s high time we write this recipe down and share it with everyone! The longer this chili simmers or sits (even overnight) the more flavor it has. I like to serve chili with corn bread muffins on the side. Serves 10.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs ground turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 14.5 oz. diced tomatoes, canned, not drained
- 15.5 oz. light red kidney beans, canned, not drained
- 15.5 oz. dark red kidney beans, canned, not drained
- 15.5 oz. white beans, canned, not drained
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon all spice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 bay leaves
- 8 oz. water
Step One: Brown the ground turkey in a large skillet with the diced onions. Sauté the meat until it is fully cooked, ~ 15 minutes.
Step Two: In a large stock pot add the diced tomatoes, red/light/white beans, ground turkey & onions. Mix well. Add the ground turkey and onions to the pot. Mix well.
Step Three: Add the smoked paprika, all spice, cinnamon, chili powder and bay leaves. Mix well.
Step Four: Add 8 oz. of water to the pot and heat over medium- high.
Step Five: Let simmer on low for 1+ hour. The longer it simmers = more flavor.
Serve with diced green onions, cheddar cheese, sour cream, or your favorite chili toppings. Enjoy!
