How to Make a Holiday Sweet & Spicy Nut Mix

This Holiday Sweet & Spicy Nut Mix is super easy to make and is an excellent gift for friends, family & neighbors. I like to serve this in a small bowl for holiday snacking or as part of a charcuterie board for holiday parties. Makes ~ 10 cups.

Holiday Sweet & Spicy Nut Mix Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups of raw almonds
  • 2 cups of raw cashews
  • 2 cups of pecans

Step One: Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

Step Two: In a medium bowl add the sugar, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and salt. Mix well to combine.

Step Three: In large bowl add the egg whites and water and whisk until frothy, ~ 1 minute.

Step Four: Add the almonds, cashews, and pecans to the egg whites and stir well to coat all of the nuts with the egg white mixture.

Step Five: Add a third of the sugar mixture to the nuts and mix well, add the second third and mix well, and finally add the rest of the sugar mixture and mix well so all of the nuts are coated in sugar & spices.

Step Six: On a parchment lined baking sheet add half of the nut mixture so it is spread out in a thin layer. Add the remaining nuts in a thin layer on a second parchment lined baking sheet.

Step Seven: Bake for 20 minutes, remove from the oven and stir the nut mixture on both baking sheets. Put both pans back in the oven for another 20 minutes.

Step Eight: Let the Holiday Sweet & Spicy Nut Mix mixture cool completely, this will take ~ 1 hour. Store in an airtight container for 2 weeks.

Note: If you plan to gift the Holiday Sweet & Spicy Nut Mix I like to put it in mason jars and wrap a little holiday ribbon and tag around the rim.

Enjoy!

I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
