Floral Design & Bouquets

Friday Flowers 3.5.2021

Setting aside time on Friday afternoon to make floral bouquets has been a weekly tradition of mine for many years – it’s a signal that the busy work & homeschooling week is coming to a close and the rejuvenation and slower pace of the weekend is near. My Mom and I would photograph our Friday bouquets and then text them to each other making the miles (~1800) between us feel inconsequential for that moment in time. Now I am sharing my bouquets with you with the hope that they bring you joy, a moment of peace in seeing such simple beauty, and the feeling that all is well despite everything going on in the world today.

This week I used the following flowers:

  • White Freesia
  • Purple Freesia
  • Pink Ranunculus
  • White Alstroemeria
  • Fuchsia Veronica

In total these 5 bouquets cost $22 from my local Trader Joe’s and I made one large bouquet for the dining room table, one medium size bouquet for the coffee table in the living room, and three mini bouquets – two for the fireplace mantle and the other for my vanity.

For a step by step tutorial on how I create my bouquets you can reference my first “Friday Flowers” post at: https://gratefulhearthomeandgarden.com/?p=589

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
