How to Make an Everlasting Mini Wreath
Last year I took an everlasting wreath class at a local flower farm. It was my first time working with dried flowers and I was surprised by the colors and variety to choose from. Shortly after taking the class I went to a flower farm and cut many varieties of flowers to dry at home – strawflowers, gomphrena, celosia, amaranth, paper daisies, poppy pods, craspedia, dusty miller, etc. I also pick up small pine cones and pine branches while I am out walking my dogs. I made mini everlasting wreaths for each place setting for our family Thanksgiving meal and some extras to add to small gift bags for hostess…

How to make a Botanical Pumpkin
Last year I took an everlasting wreath class at a local flower farm. It was my first time working with dried flowers and I was surprised by the colors and variety to choose from. Shortly after taking the class I went to a flower farm and cut many varieties of flowers to dry at home – strawflowers, gomphrena, celosia, amaranth, paper daisies, poppy pods, craspedia, dusty miller, etc. This year I was inspired to make a botanical pumpkin – it took 15 minutes and I really like the end result. It’s fun to be creative in a new way and I suggest you give this DIY project a try. Important…

Tallulah Rose Flower School: My Immersion Course
I spent the past week participating in a 5 day immersion course with Tallulah Rose Flower School hosted at a local flower farm, Petal and Pitchfork. My inspiration for taking the course was to explore floral design & try a variety of arrangements to help me determine if this is something I would consider pursuing as a secondary or side career in the future. Floral design has always brought me so much joy and I love to bring the beauty of nature indoors. This post will summarize my experience and what we did each day as part of the immersion course. Day One Introductions: We started the course off with…

Easter Flowers
Easter is a special occasion that symbolizes rebirth, forgiveness, new beginnings and a fresh spiritual outlook, and is a time to be with family. Every year my Mom would buy my daughter a beautiful Easter Sunday dress for our church service and family gathering – this made my daughter feel so special and loved and it became “their” holiday. The loving presence of my Mom will be with us this Easter as we gain a clearer view of who we are as God’s perfect beloved sons and daughters. For the Easter bouquets I chose peony double tulips – there are two small white flowers nestled beneath a larger pink peony…

Friday Flowers 3.26.2021
This week my Friday Flowers come to you from one of my favorite places, our family lake house. There is a gorgeous view of the lake, a wide variety of birds to enjoy, and a nice walking path for morning and afternoon strolls. The sunroom over looks the lake and is sheltered by a very large oak tree that is stunning no matter what season it is. This sunroom has been host to many game nights, delicious meals, cherished discussions, and it is a place that makes you feel at peace. It’s also where my Mom moved into the next experience. It is my first time back to the family…

Friday Flowers 3.19.2021
Today’s flower arrangement is made with love for a dear friend who is having surgery next week. Hopefully each time she looks at the bouquet she will be reminded that she has the support of friends and family. I have started to research the meaning of specific flowers and what they symbolize. For example, in this arrangement I use fuchsia and a golden yellow freesia. Freesia flowers represent friendship, trust, thoughtfulness and innocence. I also used white ranunculus which represents charm and attractiveness – I am choosing to translate this as, we attract the friendships and people we need in our lives. We are all connected and each one of…

Friday Flowers 3.12.2021
Hooray for Friday Flowers! This week I freshened up last weeks flowers, added in flowers and greens from my own garden, and also added in white lisianthus from the store. I like to use simple vases like mason jars or small white vases and then scatter them around the house so each room has a touch of nature’s beauty. As a busy full-time working mama and now teacher to my teen daughter (homeschooling due to the pandemic) taking the time to make floral arrangements is one of the few things I do for myself. It brings me a sense of calm and peace and then satisfaction as I see them…

Friday Flowers 3.5.2021
Setting aside time on Friday afternoon to make floral bouquets has been a weekly tradition of mine for many years – it’s a signal that the busy work & homeschooling week is coming to a close and the rejuvenation and slower pace of the weekend is near. My Mom and I would photograph our Friday bouquets and then text them to each other making the miles (~1800) between us feel inconsequential for that moment in time. Now I am sharing my bouquets with you with the hope that they bring you joy, a moment of peace in seeing such simple beauty, and the feeling that all is well despite everything…

Friday Flowers
I absolutely love to make bouquets and nestle them around the house in special places to enjoy over the weekend and into the following week. I usually do this on Friday since it’s the day I adventure out of the house and run a few errands. Today I purchased one bunch of light pink spray roses and one bunch of wax flowers from my local Trader Joe’s. I also went outside into my garden and cut a variety of greens to supplement my bouquets – Camila buds, ferns, rhododendron greens, and a few others. I start by prepping the flowers and laying them all out on the counter so I…
