My daughter is 13 and wanted a fresh look for her new room. I let her choose the paint color (a pretty light lavender for the walls and white trim) and new furniture. We extended the same floors throughout the whole house for a cohesive flow. While it is a small space we found some creative storage solutions that served a practical need as well. For example, her double bed has four large pull out drawers under the mattress (great for the countless boxes of Lego she has) and behind the headboard there is a place for books and her music player. Her three drawer dresser nestled nicely into the closet for clothing storage and a nine cube unit with fabric bins for toys and miscellaneous items. We also put a bean bag with a huge pillow in one of the corners as a reading nook.

A modern teen room wouldn’t be complete without a fun light and some plants to add some personality. We also installed black out curtains with fun multicolored tassels – what teen doesn’t love to sleep?!
