How to Make my Classic Pizza Dough

Like I’ve shared in a previous post, every Sunday is homemade pizza night at our house! In this post I share how to make a very simple and quick classic pizza dough that you can either make in a bread machine or by hand in just 2 hours. This recipe makes two 12″ pizzas or four individual pizzas.

I use this compact bread machine by Cuisinart – I use it to make pizza dough and my sourdough every week.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons of cold water
  • 3/4 teaspoon yeast
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

Bread Machine Instructions: Put all of the ingredients in the bread machine and select the dough program which is typically a 1.5 hour cycle. When the dough program is complete, portion out the dough into your desired serving sizes. Split the dough in half if you want two 12″ pizzas or split it into four equal portions if you want to make small individual size pizzas. Roll out or stretch the pizza crust to your desired size and thickness. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Add your toppings and bake for another 15 minutes. Enjoy!

Kitchen Aid Instructions: In a stainless steel kitchen aid bowl add the flour, yeast, and salt, stir to combine. Add the cold water and and mix with the dough hook for ~7-8 minutes. Split the dough in half if you want two 12″ pizzas or split it into four equal portions if you want to make small individual size pizzas. Cover the dough with a tea towel or Syran wrap and let rise at room temperature for 2 hours. Roll out or stretch the pizza crust to your desired size and thickness. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Add your toppings and bake for another 15 minutes. Enjoy!

I was born and raised as a farm girl in the Midwest and have spent the past 20 years living in Australia, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest working as a marine mammal biologist. I love spending time with family, gardening, being outside, and I enjoy making delicious meals for my friends and family. My beloved mama, Kelly passed away in late 2020 and this website is dedicated to her - she taught me to be a grateful heart and see the beauty that surrounds me in all that I do.
